Stop renting your software. Own it.

The $490 license is paid once and includes your first year of hosting. From year two, an annual platform fee of at most $99 a year covers hosting, security and updates — more under “What happens after year 1?” below. You can also pay $49 a month for 12 months ($588 total) instead, and the license is yours after the 12th payment. Unlike Jobber or Housecall Pro, there are no per-user fees.

Yes: $49 a month for 12 months, $588 in all. You get the same tools and the same 10 seats from the first payment, and after the 12th payment the payments stop by themselves and the license is yours, exactly as if you had bought it outright. You can pay off the months that are left at any time, and if you cancel, the months you paid still count when you come back. It's a written commitment (Terms, Section 3). You can also rent it instead, for $29 a month and cancel any time: renting covers just you, with every update while you rent, and it never becomes yours, because the months you rent never count toward owning.

If Own Your Tools ever ceases operation, three things are already in place. The app on your devices keeps working without our servers. You can export everything, photos included. And the source code, database schema and a self-host guide are released to everyone under an open-source license. That's a written, public commitment (Terms, Section 12). With a subscription, the company keeps the code, and if it shuts down, your software can go with it.

A small annual platform fee covers hosting, security, and updates. Capped at $99/year for the life of your license. Once you buy, we won't raise, remove, or weaken that cap — a later change to the terms can't reach it. We'll tell you the exact number in writing before any payment is due. If you don't pay it, you keep using everything you have, with all your records; only new features wait for the fee. Bug fixes reach every account either way, and you never buy the license again. Security patches never cost extra.

Yes. Once a phone or computer has signed in and synced with a connection, the app opens there without one. Customers, jobs, the schedule, quotes, invoices, expenses, mileage and inventory are kept on the device: you can add and change them with no signal, and they sync when you are back online. Cash and check payments can be recorded offline too. Some things still need a connection: signing in, sending email or texts, other payment methods, marking an invoice paid, changing a sent invoice or quote, leads, maps, imports, your own quote templates and your business profile in Settings (sales tax rate included). On a paid license, a device keeps working offline with no time limit and checks the license again the next time it connects. On a trial, a device works offline for up to 30 days after it last connected, and never past the end of the trial. On an iPhone or iPad, add the app to your Home Screen so Safari keeps its data.

Yes. Download all your records, anytime, in one click, from Settings: customers, jobs, quotes, invoices, payments, expenses, mileage, inventory and the rest, in one JSON file. Settings also has a zip with every photo and signature.
